Sam Oguche Bullet Basketball 2022 First Bank Women's basketball team, are the champions?

First Bank of Nigeria Women's Basketball Team, based in Lagos on November 2022, won the Sam Oguche Bullet basketball championship.

With an interview with one of the First Bank Basketball players Theresa Dangosu share her experience and excitement on the team.

The year 2022 started on a bad note for us in January losing to the Nigerian Customs Women's Basketball team during the 2022 Mark D' Ball Championship in Abuja hosted by Mr. Igoche Mark. After that, things took a different turn for us and we have maintained a 4 times winning streak during the Sam Oguche Bullet basketball tournament in June, the Mountain of Fire Ministry Women's Basketball Championship in July, the Crown Elite Women's Basketball Championship in August, and most recently the Sam Oguche Bullet Basketball Tournament in November 2022 consecutively.

Every of these tournaments have been fierce because of the improvements from the various teams that participated. In fact, we have had to come out extra prepared for the challenges we've faced during each game due to the constant rotation of players on the opposing teams. But because of our coaching techniques and unique style of plays, we've successfully stayed on top of the table despite the outcomes of the games or strengths of the other participating teams.

Despite our successful performance so far, our team stays humble and prepared to make the necessary changes which will further propel us to more victories. First Bank has been known to be rivals to basically every female team in Nigeria, hence the need for us to always go back to the drawing board after every competition, to correct our mistakes, improve on our weaknesses and come out stronger and better prepared for future championships

Our coaching and recruiting styles has helped us maintain our name on the Nigerian basketball scene. Both in the past and present, First Bank has had some of the best players the country has known locally and internationally, representing the club and the country during local and International basketball events.

The First Bank Women's Basketball team both presently and in the past has put together top tier players like Taye Adeniyi, late Mrs. Amaka Odabili, Nkechi Akashili, Upe Atosu, Nkem Akaraiwe, Murjanatu Musa, Theresa Dangosu, Ifunanya Okoro, Mary Isuambuk, Regin Iornumbe, and so many other great players. It is no wonder they have been able to maintain the great feat since the late 80's on the basketball scene till date.
