The Nigerian music 🎶 industry of today is filled with lots of young talents. So it's always crazy hustle for every upcoming artiste who wants to make it big in the industry.
So I decided to make research and I found out 7 things you should do as an upcoming artiste for you to be ahead of other upcoming artists in Nigeria.
Here are the list which am going to be explaining one by one:
Patience, Quality, Get a Slogan, Avoid Free Promo, Promo, Stop waiting for Record Label, Have a backup plan.
📢 Patience:
As an upcoming artiste, frustration will come after years of putting effort to the hustle but still no good result.
Yes many do give up because they can't handle this frustration. Self courage is what you need having in mind that most top artiste didn't make it that easy.
It has took them years of trying and they were once rejected by the said audience who appreciate them today.
📢 Quality:
In music this is a very important aspect. As an upcoming artiste you should try your possible best to work more on your rhymes, mixing and mastering.
Working with a better studio with food sound card, a decent condenser microphone and at least semi-professional in mix and mastering of your Song should help in producing quality music.
📢 Get a Slogan:
There are popular slogans from some of our top artists in the industry such as "notin dey happen", "yaga", "wayesay", "skiboroboskibo", "iskaba", "O.B.O baddest".
Get yourself a unique one and make it all yours by sounding it in all your songs.
📢 Avoid Free Promo:
This is one of the problem of most upcoming artists, they don't want spend but want their song to be prom.
As an upcoming artiste whose goal is to get to top must Avoid Free Promo. Olamide didn't go for free Promo to get to the top, neither did other top artists.
Facebook allows every individual to create a fan page but do you know that out of your thousands likes only 5% see what ever you post on your fan page, why because they want you to boost it by pay, so no free thing in this world.
📢 Promo:
Just as I said above you need promotion to get your required boost. Get your Song on radio stations, always perform on street show, relate with DJ's for your Song to get a place on their mix tape. And they are not free.
And don't forget to always promote your Song on top entertainment sites, such as Belleful and other top website.
"Even real talents still need Promo, am not saying you are not real" Falz" also said it.
📢 Stop Waiting for Record Label:
As an upcoming artiste just concentrate and do your things. You will be heard.
Nowadays, label hardly sign an artiste without a successfully independent career.
📢 Have a Backup Plan:
You should try to have a Backup plan should in case things didn't go as planned, I advice you get an educational qualification or better still learn a trade.
Most top artistes are Degree holders, if you don't know.
